Ballantrae Gala week will run from Sat 28th June until Sun 6th July 2014. Lots of fun events are organised for all during this period such as football, fishing, fancy dress parade, gala day on Sat 5th July followed by a barn dance then bowler/non bowler event on Sunday 6th.
Colmonell Agricultural Show will be held on Sat 9th August.
Smugglers Festival will run from Mon 16th August - Sat 23rd August 2014. Time for the whole family to enjoy the history of Ballantrae's part in the Smuggling that went on in the South West Coast.
A limited bus service operates to the surrounding towns and cities.
Girvan has a railway station and services operate to Ayr, Kilmarnock Glasgow & Edinburgh, Stranraer. Girvan has a harbour area boat trips run to Ailsa Craig in the summer. An Asda store can be found in Girvan.
Cairnryan is home to the Stenaline ferry terminal which operates services to Belfast in Ireland. Day trips are very popular with our guests.
Colmonell, Barrhill, Lendalfoot, Barr and Dailly are some of the surrounding villages that also offer lovely scenic walks.
Dailly is home of Brunston golf course and club house. This is approx 30 mins drive from the cottage.
Stranraer is home to the Ryan Leisure Centre. Morrison, Tesco, Boots & Argos stores can be found in this this town.
Culzean Castle is located approx. 30 mins drive from the cottage and offers much pleasure to many visitors. This is a Historic Scotland Property set within large grounds. Children's play park, deer park, swan pond and of course the castle. Many events are hosted within the grounds throughout the year. Coffee shop, icecream kiosks and restaurant are all found within the park.
Due to our location you are close to the majority of both Ayrshire & Galloway's attractions.
Fishing - available at Colmonell - Pinbraid Fisheries.
Walking - this is an ideal property if you enjoy walking. There are numerous walks available throughout the local countryside. Coastal pathways and walks are signposted locally.
Golfing - available at Turnberry, Brunston, Girvan or Stranraer. Turnberry is approx 20 mins drive from this accommodation.
Places to Eat - There are numerous places to eat out in the surrounding area.
Heads of Ayr Farm Park is an excellent family day out and can easily keep the family amused for the entire day. Plenty of indoor attractions if the weather isn't good!
